The AATF Director-General, Dr Denis Kyetere, said the technology foundation was ready to work with Nigeria to make available to Nigerian farmers some of the newest technologies.
African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) is a charitable organisation designed to facilitate and promote public-private partnerships, remove many of the barriers that have prevented smallholder farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) from gaining access to existing agricultural technologies that could help improve food security and reduce poverty.
In her opening remarks, the Minister of State for Agriculture, Asmau Asabe Ahmad, said the ministry was glad to partner with the foundation, a one-stop-shop that provides expertise and know-how that facilitates the identification, access, development, delivery and utilisation of agricultural technologies.
In his address, the Minister for Agriculture, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, said the ministry placed premium on technology as key to reversing the low agricultural productivity and unlocking the potential of smallholder farmers in Nigeria.
“We are, therefore, happy to have you here and we are mindful of your many efforts aimed towards food security and improved livelihoods of farmers in many countries of Africa,” Adesina said.
