African Wrestling Champion, Esther Kolawole, over the weekend beat Haylie Jaffe of USA 10-0 superiority to win gold at Spain’s Grand Prix.
The highly spirited African champion came into the encounter with confidence after a convincing 10-0 superiority over Lydia Perez Tourino of Spain in the quarter-final and 4-1 victory against Polish Alicja Nowosad in the semi-final.
The gold medal is a testament to Esther Kolawole’s potential and belief of what she can achieve
Reacting to the feat, President Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Dr. Daniel Igali, applauded her victory, expressing confidence that the experience will shape her for future international events.
Igali said if she sustains the tempo, Nigerians should be hopeful of many gold medals in the future from her.
After that victory in Spain, Esther Kolawole, now turns attention to the Ranking Series in Budapest, Hungary, which runs from 14th to 19th 2025 in preparation for the World Wrestling Championship in Croatia later this year.
