Africana 17 to provide two dialysis machines to Abuja Teaching Hospital

Africana 17 Charitable Foundation is to provide two dialysis machines to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH).

The founder of the Foundation, Mr Charles Oronsaye, disclosed this at the unveiling of the Africana SS24 collection and launch of Africana 17 Foundation in Abuja on Sunday.

He said, “We just unveiled our collection Art of Life.  We are using that medium to bring about two things. We are showing creativity and culture through clothing and wears and we are using this avenue to make known our African 17 Charity Foundation.’’

Oronsaye,said the formal launch of the Foundation is to  support Nigeria’s healthcare sector. “Setting up this foundation reflects my lifelong aspiration to use fashion as a force for good, aiming to support underprivileged communities and demonstrate the potentially impactful  role of our industry in societal welfare.

“The Foundation’s first project is to raise funds for two dialysis machines for the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital  (UATH), providing free treatment as a part of Africana’s commitment to social responsibility, thereby blending the world of fashion with a deep sense of empathy  and care for the community.” He said.

After watching first-hand, the experience of patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), Oronsaye noted that both the brand and the foundation will be a catalyst for awareness and support in the fight against CKD and continuously showcase the powerful impact fashion can have beyond the runway.
