Center leader of Princeton Institute of Science and Technology of Materials (PAMI) Dr Omololu Akin-Ojo has said that the institute is   focusing on using material science and engineering to develop Africa continent in different areas.
He stated this during the official flag-off of the Pan African Materials Institute(PAMI) of African University Institute of Technology (AUST) held recently in Abuja.
He said that the institute in this regard has partnered with a number of institutions to make Africa a technological driven continent.
He said: “In Africa, there are complaints by industries that many of our graduates are not well trained because when they go into industry, they have to be retrained.  In the immediate sense, we are focusing on the many challenges we have in Africa. One of them is on water. So we are working on water purification so that we have cleaner water.
Many of Nigerians do not have clean water. We are working on a cheap and efficient way for them to have clean water. We are also training them on building infrastructure and solar cells and how to do tissue culture to be able to work on killing cancers.”
