A former Managing Director of Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Nnamdi Udoh, has said the 54 economies of Africa now have a collective Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of $2.5 trillion, making it the 8th largest economy in the world, behind India.

The former NAMA boss revealed that Africa, with 1.3 billion potential customers, makes the continent’ much more attractive to investment both from within and outside it.

According to him, Nigeria’s very rich tourism environment can attract huge foreign exchange to the country in line with the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCTA).

Udoh spoke ahead of the 4th edition of the National Tourism Transportation Summit slated for November 15 to 16, 2021 in Abuja.

The National Transportation Tourism Summit and Expo is instituted and convened annually by the Institute for Tourism Professionals of Nigeria (ITPN) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Tourism, the Federal Ministry of Transportation and the Federal Ministry of Aviation focusing on the inter-play and connectivity between tourism and transportation.

Air transport specialist and former managing director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mr. Richard Aisuebeogun, said with AfCTA, it becomes easier for airlines to grow in Africa just like what is obtained in Europe.
