The Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) has rehabilitated the Wudil-Gaya road, which covered up to the Kano University of Science and Technology (KUST), Wudil T- junction.

On October 9, 2019, Chronicle published a story titled “Wudil residents, motorists groan over dilapidated road” in which the deplorable condition of the road was highlighted.

Residents said they now have a sigh of relief following the repairs of the road.

The Wudil Forum has expressed its gratitude to FERMA during a courtesy visit and presentation of a letter of appreciation at the Kano state field office of the agency.

Presenting the letter, the Chairman of the Forum, Malam Yusuf Kabir, said the delegation was at the office on behalf of the community to express their profound appreciation to FERMA for a job well done.

Malam Kabir said the forum had never seen a gigantic project as that of the road rehabilitation carried out by the agency at the Wudil junction, hence the need to formally present their letter of appreciation.

“The project has solved a major discomfort experienced by the community and all road users along the entire road corridor of Kano-Jigawa-Bauchi-Yobe-Borno up to some neigbouring countries such as Chad and Cameroon,” the chairman of the Forum said.

He thanked the head of the field office, Engr Sani Abdulkadir, for his dedication to duty, as well as the entire management of FERMA for the speedy execution of the project.

In his response, Engr Abdulkadir, said before the Chronicle story, the agency had formally received a letter of complaint from the forum which was promptly forwarded to the headquarters of the agency for their intervention.

“In the past, our agency did not pay attention to that particular segment of the road because of the dualisation of the Kano-Maiduguri road project embarked upon by the Federal Ministry of Works. It was only when they indicated their demarcation that we knew the section was not part of the dualisation project,” he said.

He said the project was only first phase as other projects were in the pipeline as other requests have been forwarded to the headquarters of the agency for approval.

He called on the general public to always alert the agency on such important projects that had impact on their lives.
