Following a Daily Trust report, the Federal Ministry of Works has mobilised a construction company, Triacta Nigeria Limited, back on site for the reconstruction of the collapsed portions of the Bauchi-Gombe Road.

The district head of Bara, Kirfi Local Government Area, Alhaji Muhammad Abdullahi, disclosed this when he received a team of researchers from the National Horticultural Research Institute (NIHORT) Gombe Centre who paid him a courtesy visit at his palace in Bara.

The monarch said, “Just yesterday, officials from a construction company Triacta visited me at the palace and informed me that they were awarded contract for the reconstruction of the dilapidated road by the federal government.

“They were directed to speed up the construction and complete the project within the shortest possible time in order to fix the cutoff portions of the road. They requested me to provide a site, a piece of land, where they will camp their trucks and other logistics for the project.

“Right now, as I am talking to you, we are still negotiating with the owners of the land to give them permission where they will mobilise their facilities for the proposed site. From all indication, this problem of annual cutoff of roads would come to an end because Traicta is a strong company which executes quality projects.”

The traditional ruler commended Daily Trust for its publication which drew the attention of the government to the plight of the people on the collapsed portion of the road.

“We are extremely happy with this development, particularly with the award of contract to a competent company because two years ago, the project was awarded to some construction firms but they were unable to execute quality projects,” he said.

It will be recalled that three weeks ago, Daily Trust reported how failure of the federal government to fix the collapse portions of the Bauchi-Gombe Road was unleashing undue hardship to thousands of motorists, commuters and residents of Bara and Kalajanga in Kirfi LGA of Bauchi State.
