Late former Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Agagu was yesterday buried in his home town, Iju-Odo, Okitipupa amidst tight security, even as the Senate has launched an investigation into the Thursday crash that claimed 13 lives.
The private family funeral was devoid of the usual crowd which would have naturally graced such occasion.
President Goodluck Jonathan at the funeral eulogised the late former governor, describing him as a man of immense intellectual commitment who will be greatly missed.
In his message at the funeral service organised at the St. Paul Anglican Church, Iju- Odo, Osooro, the president who said the news came as a shock, also prayed that God will not allow such sad occurrence again in the country.
Represented at the occasion by the Minister of Police Affairs, Navy Captain Caleb Olubolade, Jonathan sympathised with the family, the Ondo State government and all citizens of the state over the loose.
Meanwhile, the Senate said it has commenced investigation to unravel the cause of Thursday crash, Senate President, David Mark disclosed this yesterday in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The Senate President who was in Abeokuta for an event said the
National Assembly has ordered an investigation into the incident and
was awaiting the result, adding that necessary steps would be taken to avert occurrence of such tragedy in future.
