Barely 24 hours after bandits invaded the Janjala community and whisked away the Chief Imam of the community’s central mosque alongside two others, six more people have been abducted in a fresh attack on Unguwar Pure Water in Sabon-Ka’ago, near Kagarko town in Kaduna State.

A resident of Kagarko, Yakubu Dahiru, said the incident occurred on Friday around 7pm.

He reported that bandits armed with AK-47 rifles attacked the residence of one Alhaji Suleiman Baushe and initially seized 11 people.

He identified some of those abducted as Umar Haruna, Hauwa Ibrahim, Amina Ibrahim, and Talatu Ibrahim.

Dahiru further noted that the bandits proceeded to the neighboring Akoti village, where they abducted a woman identified as Ramatu Abdullahi.

A community leader from the area, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, confirmed the latest incident.

He stated that six people remained in custody following the Thursday evening raids on the two communities.

He added that security operatives have been alerted, though the victims are still in captivity and the abductors have yet to establish contact.

A source at the Kagarko Emir’s palace, who also preferred to remain anonymous, confirmed the kidnappings and expressed concern that surrounding communities are now under siege by bandits.

“There is an increased presence of troops around some of the communities due to the incessant attacks. On Wednesday, we also observed a military helicopter hovering over the forests near the neighboring villages,” the source said.

Security sources in the area confirmed the latest attack.

The spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Hassan Mansur, had yet to react to the latest kidnapping incident at the time of filing this report.
