The new President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr Yakubu Maikyau (SAN) has set up a committee of inquiry to investigate the stampede which led to destruction of properties at the just ended conference.
In a statement over the weekend, the association’s president said the committee will be headed by the Ekiti State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Wale Fapohunda (SAN).

The committee is expected to investigate the unfortunate events that transpired on Tuesday, August 23 when some aggrieved members destroyed properties and assaulted the association’s staff over the rush for conference materials.
The NBA president also seized the occasion to begin some of his administration’s immediate objectives, including announcing the constitution of an Electoral Reform Committee to be chaired by Mr. E. Y. Kura (SAN), which has the mandate to reduce the campaign costs during NBA national elections.
Members of the NBA new exco that will run the association for the next two years were also sworn in last Friday along with YC Maikyau SAN. They are Adesina Adegbite as the General Secretary, while Daniel Ka-Ayli was sworn in as Assistant General Secretary.
Chinyere Obasi was sworn in as National Welfare Secretary, Habeeb Lawal as the National Publicity Secretary, Olawole Ajiboye as the Assistant Publicity Secretary and Anze-Bishop Ladidi as the Treasurer.
