Chinedu Obika, a member of the House of Representatives for the AMAC/Bwari federal constituency, has disclosed that he has forwarded a bill for an act to establish the FCT Displaced Original Inhabitants Resettlement and Integration Agency.

He said the agency would provide for the effective management and administration of compensation and resettlement for people affected by development projects within the FCT and for related matters.

Chinedu stated this at a two-day town hall meeting he organized in Abuja, with the theme: “The 1999 Constitutional Amendment Exercise and Other Matters.”

He also mentioned that he has sponsored a bill for an act to establish the FCT Scholarship Board to facilitate the provision of scholarships to indigenous pupils and students, as well as residents of the territory, to promote sustainable educational development.

According to him, a bill for an act to establish the FCT Emergency Management Agency to coordinate and address disaster challenges through the provision of emergency management services in the territory is also among his planned bills.

Also speaking, Comrade Ezekiel Musa Dalhatu, the former FCT Commissioner for the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) and pioneer leader of the Coalition of the FCT Indigenous Association, commended the House of Representatives member for organizing the town hall meeting to deliberate on issues and challenges affecting the natives of the FCT.
