Speaking at the official launching of the project held at KNARDA Animal Traction Training Centre, Kadawa, in Garun Malam Local Government Area of the state, the deputy  governor, Engineer Abdullahi Gwarzo, said the project would cover about 75 farmer associations.

He said the first 25 farmer groups would benefit with one cow and one bull, while 50 associations would benefit with  one bull and two cows, noting that the programme would cover 540 farmer associations and it would cost about N400 million.

“We expect that in three years time this programme would produce about 30,000 litres of milk estimated at N30, 000,000 as daily income for those who benefit from the programme,” said the deputy governor.

He called on the farmers to cooperate and support government in order to achieve the set objectives, adding that government would continue to provide all necessary facilities for the benefit of the farmers toward boosting agricultural services in the state.

Engineer Gwarzo explained that in 2003, government had provided 4,135 tonnes of seeds, 220,977 litres of insecticide and 52,000 tonnes of fertilizer and 111,334 hecters of land to farmers.
