The training, according to NESREA, was aimed at building the capacity of participants on environmental protection and enforcement issues.
Speaking at the event, Director General of NESREA, Benebo Ngeri, said that the exercise was meant to educate participants on environmental offences/penalties and measures designed to discourage violations.
Ngeri, who was represented by the Director of Environmental Quality Control of NESREA, Umar Maiwada, said: “We must look at how our environment runs, and be environment vanguards. Everybody has a stake in ensuring that our environment is clean and healthy for all of us. Therefore, with that in mind, I expect the training to be very interactive, resourceful and tremendously improve our enforcement and reporting skills. We have gone further to include the general public in some of our training and sensitisation programmes.
 “We hope that at the end of this training course, participants would have been adequately equipped with sound knowledge of environmental challenges in Nigeria and the need for protection. It will also equip us to understand global concerns and responsibility for environmental challenges expressed in various Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs).”
