The Kwara Redemption Movement (KRM), a group of aggrieved leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who were instrumental to the 2019 Otoge political revolution in the state, on Thursday launched a membership drive targeting 300,000 people.
The movement, which emerged last year in protest against what it described as poor performance by the current Kwara State government, formally unveiled its local government coordinators at an event attended by prominent APC figures.
Those present included former House of Representatives member Hon. Moshood Mustapha; APC chieftain Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo; former APC Publicity Secretary, Folaranmi Aro; ex-Commissioner Alhaji Aliyu Mohammed Lade; and other stakeholders drawn from across the state’s 16 local government areas.
The leaders charged the new coordinators to begin full-scale mobilisation at the grassroots to actualise the movement’s objectives.

Speaking at the inauguration, KRM convener and APC leader in the state, Akogun Oyedepo, said the movement was formed to challenge a system that produced what he described as an underperforming government in the state.
Also speaking, Hon. Moshood Mustapha clarified that the KRM is not a political party but a pressure group aimed at reshaping the political environment in Kwara State.
“This is not about anyone’s ambition. The Otoge struggle gave us victory, but that victory has not translated into real success for the people,” he said, noting that those who gained most from the 2019 revolution have failed to deliver on the people’s expectations.
He stressed that the group’s agitation is not directed at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu or the national leadership of the APC but focused on governance in Kwara.
“We are not against the President, and we respect our traditional rulers. But we cannot ignore the fact that things are not working as they should. This is why we must work together to change the status quo,” he added.
In their separate remarks, former commissioner Alhaji Aliyu Mohammed Lade and Mrs. Gunu Elizabeth from Kwara North called for unity and sacrifice as critical to achieving the goals of the KRM.
