The World Bank supported Project, Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE ) team has pledged to support the newly appointed Executive Secretary of Universal Basic Education Commission,(UBEC), Aisha Garba,  to deliver sustainable solutions in basic education in Nigeria.

The team  said they are counting on her to bring her 24 years experience of driving educational impactful programmes to deliver sustainable basic education to millions of Nigerian children.

The National Project Coordinator of AGILE,  Mrs Amina Buba Haruna and the 18 State Project Coordinators states stated this during a courtesy visit to the recently appointed  Executive Secretary. In Abuja recently.

According to the team,  UBEC boss has commenced moves to deploy strategies to advance delivery  of quality basic education for the millions of school-aged children in Nigeria as welĺ as promoting safety in schools.

Daily Trust reports that Aisha Garba was the Task Team Leader (TTL) of the world bank supported AGILE Project prior to her appointment as the executive secretary of UBEC.

The team described her appointment as a round peg in a round hole.

The AGILE  Project Coordinators in their remarks described her as determined , focused and courageous and wished her well in her new office.

The team explained that besides being actively interested in and involved in human development issues, the development specialist will share her rich network with governments, development partners, and the skills she acquired working in fragile, conflict, and violent settings to deliver sustainable solutions in basic education.

In her response Aisha Garba thanked the project coordinators for their thoughtfulness and the good working relationship and urged them to keep the touch of AGILE burning so that the impact of the project is felt all over the country.
