Parents in Sakadadi village, Sabon Gari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, have been sensitized on the importance of enrolling their adolescent daughters in western education, under the AGILE Project supported by the World Bank.
Speaking to women during a community sensitization programme on the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) component of AGILE, World Bank Education Specialist, Mistura Rufai, emphasized the need for girls’ education.
According to her, the CCT initiative is designed to encourage parents to enrol their daughters in school from primary through secondary level especially in rural communities.
“We are happy to see the parents gathered here to listen to us on the need to enrol their female daughters in school, which is what the sensitization is all about. The CCT is aimed at encouraging parents to enrol their daughters in school to be educated,” she said.

Mistura also advised parents to safeguard the ATM cards provided to them for accessing the CCT funds, as this would help them continue sponsoring their children’s education.
In his remarks, Malam Idris Mu’azu, a representative of Kaduna AGILE, assured the community that most of the challenges hindering access to the CCT would be addressed.
He praised the turnout of community and religious leaders, noting that the programme would help raise awareness about the importance of girls’ education and the activities of the AGILE project.
Also speaking, the village head of Sakadadi, Malam Ahmed Musa Suleiman, commended Kaduna AGILE, the World Bank, and the state government for their support towards advancing adolescent girls’ education, particularly in underserved communities.
He urged parents to ensure their daughters are enrolled in school for the sake of their future.
“I encourage all parents to enrol their daughters in school for the betterment of their future,” he said.
