This was revealed during the technical presentation of the report on the development of agro industrial town in Alape in Abuja Tuesday by the LR Group Worldwide Nigeria.
In the her opening address the permanent secretary, federal ministry of agriculture and rural development, Mrs Ibukun Odusote, stated that the development of agro industrial towns in crop processing zones is a new concept geared to modernize the country’s agricultural sector.
Represented by Chudi Nwandu, Director Special Duties of the ministry, she said a total of 19 crops processing zones are designed for the entire country. Six are in the first phase of development. This is designed to achieve the gold of treating agriculture as a business.
Dr Tony Bello, a Senior Technical Assistant to the Minister on Agribusiness said the scheme if fully implemented will create a world-class agribusiness environment in the country and will attract billion worth of foreign investment into the sector.
