The National Committee of the Heads of Colleges of Agriculture and Related Disciplines (NACHCARD) has called for the harmonization of the conditions of service between the states and Federal Colleges of Agriculture.

 NACHCARD, in a communiqué issued Wednesday in Abuja at the end of its 60th regular meeting, said there was need for collaboration among states and federal colleges of agriculture on any possible grants either from the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN) or other donor agencies.

 The communiqué, which was signed by Dr. E. M. Shaibu-Imodagbe and Dr. Oluyemi Akande, on behalf of the drafting committee national chairman, also called for a retreat among the federal colleges of agriculture and related disciples to identify the various solution options to tackle the challenges militating against the achievement of the colleges’ goals.

 The association also wants the TETFUND to include colleges of Agriculture and related disciplines in TETFUND interventions for infrastructural development, library development and staff training.

 NACHCARD resolved that under the recently approved ARCN Act, only two trade unions – the Academic staff union of college of Agriculture (ASUCA) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities (NASU) are recognized in colleges of agriculture and related disciplines.

 The committee implored colleges to explore avenues for securing the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) agricultural intervention schemes/funds.
