He said Nigeria and Pakistan are already working on a Bi-lateral Investment Treaty hoping to be signed this year.
The envoy said this yesterday in Abuja during a visit to the Media Trust Head Office in Abuja where he noted that unless agriculture is revived in Nigeria, there would be high unemployment rate.
He added that reviving agriculture is beyond just importation of tractors and machinery.
According to the envoy, “A chain has to be established from importation of tractors, maintenance and repair of those machines to encourage the poor farmers because it is a complete activity which must be followed to achieve success in agriculture.”
Saleem also said land ownership play an important role in reviving Nigeria’s agriculture sector where he said it is very important as owners will keep it jealously to ensure proper use of the land.
The High Commissioner also said that his country can set up a tractor factories in Nigeria as well as workshops and spare shops where tractors can be produced, maintained and get parts replaced in case of any fault.
The envoy also identified lack of direct flights, shipping link and banking system has some of the problem affecting investment relations between both countries.
Speaking on the security situation in Nigeria, the envoy said his country is also facing similar problem and that they are already co-operating with Nigeria in the areas of intelligence and experience sharing to counter insurgency.
