The national leadership of the Agriculture and Allied Workers’ Union of Nigeria (AAEUN) has expelled the chairman of its Sokoto State Council, Abubakar Malami, Lagos State Council, Obafemi Ajenubi and FCT Council, Suleiman Aliyu Isah, for alleged financial misappropriation.
The union, in a communiqué issued at the end of its emergency meeting in Kaduna, said affected officers were expelled for misappropriation of the union’s fund, writing petitions to the police and other organisations and institution of court cases against its leadership as well as engaging in anti-union activities, which were all contrary to the union’s constitution.
“Consequently, the NEC has approved the expulsion of the three state chairmen and the necessary measures to recover the amounts of money they misappropriated,’’ the communiqué read in part.
The communiqué, which was signed by the union’s national president, Simon M. Anchaver and general secretary, Aitokhuchi Ededuan Sunday, said the NEC equally placed the Enugu State chairperson of the council on three months’ suspension and transferred the state’s secretary to the Osun State Council for breach of trust and consequently approved the constitution of a committee to investigate the allegation.
The communiqué also directed the national leadership to commence negotiation with the federal government on the payment of hazard allowance to agric professionals and their allied workers nationwide.
