He said agriculture remained the only means of generating jobs and creating wealth, adding that future millionaires and billionaires would be those who invested in agriculture.
Speaking at the inauguration of his Campaign Council, Ibrahim who explained that agriculture would be his priority if elected as next governor, said farming was no longer about hoes and cutlasses.
He advised youths to learn how to drive tractors and embrace other means of modern farming.
The renowned entrepreneur added: “Of course, we are an agrarian environment. We must revolutionise agriculture and it is not about hoes and cutlasses anymore. No it can’t work. If we want to make a success of agriculture, we should learn to drive a tractor. It is a tractor that we need to help revolutionise agriculture.
“And I can tell you the millionaires and billionaires of the future of this country would be people who invest in agriculture value chain and you can quote me in 10 years time, we would see the difference.
“You will find out that those who are not in agriculture, who do white collar jobs, would be driving taxis while people from agriculture would be driving big, big cars, jeeps. These are the people who would have invested in agriculture. So we have an opportunity.”
He said that Kwara had a large land mass which could be utilised for agriculture, lamenting that rural farmers faced difficulty in transporting their farm produce.
Ibrahim cautioned Nigeria against food importation, saying: “We must produce whatever we want to produce or, in the alternative, we must consume whatever we produce.
“That’s the way forward. Any other way is fraught with difficulty, challenges and there is no point exporting jobs out of our country.”
