Ah, the middle belt has never had it so bad!

This zone, from independence to date, has never been so marginalized in terms of federal appointments and presence like under Jonathan’s administration. For example, the only visible appointment held by a Plateau indigene was that of the Chairman National Population Commission held by Chief Samuila Makama, whose tenure has ended. Instead of keeping with the trend as done in the cases of PPPRA, NCC, power ministry, NSE, BPE, and many more, in which the outgoing heads were duly replaced by appointees picked from the same geopolitical zone, being the South East, Makama was replaced by someone far outside the middle belt, from the usually most favoured South East. Why? Even as the immediate past Chairman, Mr Festus Odimegwu resigned, he was hurriedly replaced by Chief Eze from the same South East.
While, according to a report, the Igbo have cornered at least 42% of all federal appointments, the core middle belt, that is Plateau, Nasarawa and Benue states, has less than 4%. Then what use is this fanatical love for this Jonathan’s administration by the diehard middle belt political bigwigs such as Jonah Jang? It is to be noted without the fear of being challenged that from independence, that is Tafawa Balewa’s government through Gowon’s, Murtala’s, Obasanjo’s, Shagari’s, up to the late Yar’adua’s, the middle belt has never been so ignobly marginalized like now. The facts are there; so are the figures and the statistics. Facts don’t lie.
So with all these overwhelming decimation of the passive, gullible, docile  but undeniably loyal people of the core middle belt region, why the continued love for this Jonathan’s regime without reciprocity?
