The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria has urged the electorate and those seeking elective positions to shun vote buying and other electoral malpractices during the coming general elections.
The Amir of Ahmadiyya, Nigeria, Alhaji Alatoye Folorunso Azeez gave the advice during the 68th national conference of the movement held in Ilaro, Ogun State.
The three-day event, otherwise known as Jalsa Salana, took place under the guidance of the world leader of the Ahmadiyya movement, Caliph Hazrat Masroor Ahmad.
Speaking with newsmen, Azeez cautioned politicians against manipulation, electoral violence and the use of thugs to intimidate oppositions.

He also pledged the commitment of the entire members of Ahmadiyya to peaceful, free, fair and credible elections.
“I will also plead that people should avoid using money to buy votes. We should not try to manipulate the votes. Whoever Allah chooses among them, we should pray for them so that they can succeed at all levels,” he said.
Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state urged Muslims to ensure they get their Permanent Voters’ Card (PVCs) and participate fully in the elections.
Abiodun noted that Muslims performing their civic rights was not just a duty to themselves alone, but also to the country.
Daily Trust reports that an estimated 70,000 members of the movement attended the conference, which also featured lectures, special prayer session for Nigeria and award presentation to members who have excelled in their educational pursuit.
