An air flying lieutenant (name withheld) has allegedly defiled a 14-year-old girl in an Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Borno, humanitarian and security sources said.

Daily Trust gathered that the incident occurred some weeks ago but the camp officials didn’t want the case made public because of threats.

The victim and her twin sister reportedly went to fetch firewood outside Bakassi IDP camp when the said flying lieutenant, who is of the Dalwa Special Force Battalion, alleged stopped them and later asked the victim to follow him to a nearby bush where he forcefully had canal knowledge of her.

It was further gathered that the girl was brought into Bakassi camp with bloodstains on her by a good Samaritan who assisted them. She was said to have been taken to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Hospital in the camp where they ascertained her condition.

Family members of the victim told our reporter that they are from Marte LGA of Borno State, and confirmed that since the assault the girl had been crying but that they had been warned not to speak out.

Humanitarian sources that spoke with our reporter on condition of anonymity said after the victim was discharged from the ICRC hospital, some group of military men stormed the Bakassi IDP camp hospital and carted away documents.

A security source at Bakassi IDP camp who also asked not to be named, however, said the accused flying lieutenant had been arrested and that a committee had been set up to investigate the case.

Attempts to get the official position of the authority on the issue proved abortive as calls put across to the spokesman of 105 Airforce Composite Group Maiduguri, Squadron Ibrahim Bukar, was not answered. He also did not respond to a text message sent to his mobile phone number.
