The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is planning for the takeoff of activities towards establishing a base at the Lafia Cargo Airport.
A delegation from NAF headquarters in Abuja visited the Lafia airport and saw the level of development to fast track the process of having the base and to ascertain the suitability of the 100-hectare land allocated for the base by the state government.
The NAF delegation used the visit to inspect ongoing work at the Lafia airport and appreciated the effort the Nasarawa State Government put in towards meeting standards. Thereafter, the NAF delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Nasarawa Dep. Gov., Mr. Silas Ali Agara, who said, “I reassure you of the state government’s commitment towards providing an enabling environment for the NAF to takeoff its activities at its base at the Lafia airport.”
It would be recalled that the allocation of the land was made possible when Gov. Umaru Al-Makura visited the NAF headquarters in Abuja and met with the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Sadique Abubakar, who sought for land for a NAF base in Nasarawa.
