Following the $3,500 fine imposed on airlines whose passengers flout the new travel protocols, air travel agents said they are taking measures to ensure compliance.
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) in a circular last weekend issued the protocol for travellers from the United Kingdom and South Africa.

Key among the items is that airlines would be fined $3,500 for each passenger and they might be required to return non-Nigerian defaulting passengers to the point of embarkation for non-compliance.
Speaking about the further measures the travel agencies are taking to ensure compliance, President of the National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies (NANTA), Mrs Susan Akporiaye, said immediately after the NCAA issued the circular, the airlines communicated to the travel agents.
Mrs Akporiaye said making people comply will be a tough process but that the travel agencies must ensure that it is done.
“Our compliance will determine whether they would leave the airports open or closed. We all need to work together to ensure that the airports remain open.
“If they close down the airports now because of our non-compliance, we would all complain; everybody would suffer for it. So it is for our own good that we comply,” she said.
