Med-View Airline has airlifted no fewer than 1, 840 pilgrims performing this year Hajj exercise since Sunday that the airlift commenced.

The Pilgrims that have been so far conveyed from the Muritala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos straight to Madinah were from Ogun, Oyo and Osun states.

No fewer than 540 were airlifted by the fifth flight which took off around 4 pm yesterday in Boeing 777-200 ER and Boeing 767-300 aircraft carrying 320 and 220 respectively.

However, the airlift of intending Pilgrims from Lagos State would commence on Saturday, according to the Managing Director of Med-view, Alhaji Muneer Bankole who spoke with our correspondent shortly before the take off on Wednesday.

540 pilgrims are being airlifted on a daily basis by the airline.

Bankole described the ongoing airlift of the intending pilgrims as hitch-free, saying, "so far, so good" even as he hailed the conduct of the pilgrims, urging them to continue to display good characters while in the holy Land.

"You will see the effect of the orientation on them and I think that is commendable unlike in the past, the conduct has been excellent. We just wish the state officials would do more work to assist them further", he said.

The intending pilgrims were in high spirit as they boarded the aircraft with awe and expectations, praising the name of the Almighty Allah.

Abdullahi Saleh, a pilgrim from Ogun state who spoke with our correspondent commended the conduct of the Hajj officials including those of the airline and other authorities.
