Factional President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero, has appealed to the Federal Government to rename the Eagles Square in Abuja after Chima Ubani,the late civil rights activist, who died in a ghastly motor accident 10 years ago
He said in a statement in Lagos, that renaming the  Eagles Square after the late activist would enable Nigerians appreciate the invaluable roles Ubani played in the economic and political struggles of the  present day Nigeria.
He said: “There is no other better face of anti-corruption than the face of Chima Ubani. The President will therefore bring to the fore the seriousness with which he views his anti-corruption stance if he takes this bold step today in honour of this dead son of the nation.
 “We also call upon the government and peoples of Abia state; Chima’s home state to rise in recognition of this their worthy ambassador to raise unforgettable memorial in his honour. We call on those who had made pledges to Chima’s family and are yet to fulfil them to use this 10th year anniversary of his demise to redeem and honour those pledges. Let us visit this family with kindness and renew our ties with them as it is not a crime to be corrupt free.
 “His death will be in vain if Nigerians do not learn from his life and sacrifices. We must all learn that oppression will not go away unchallenged and that exploitation and violence hurts the exploiter, the exploited and the violated including the society in the long-run. He thought us through his life that it takes men of courage and integrity to confront the evil of social exploitation and misrule and that we must not be corrupt before we become national heroes.”
