Oyo State Governor, Senator Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi has finally inaugurated committees on the payment of salaries, pension and education reform initiative.

The governor who was represented by his deputy, Moses Alake-Adeyemo, on Tuesday while inaugurating the committees at the Executive Chamber of the Governor’s office Ibadan, said government remain open to public opinions capable of making the state happier and  healthier.

The Government/Labour Committee on unpaid salaries, wages and pensions is comprised of 14 members, seven from each sides and it is chaired by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji  Olalekan Ali while the Director, Establishment Matters will serve as Secretary.

The governor said government and labour had a subsisting agreement on payment of salaries and pensions on which government has never reneged.

He said the agreement on payment of salaries in staggered form was the choice of labour as opposed to government’s earlier proposal to ensure that every worker goes home with a monthly pay no matter how much we received from the federal allocation.

He stated that the committee has a mandate to submit its report within 10 days, adding that government’s commitment to the transformation and repositioning of the state remains unshaken.

Also, while inaugurating the Committee on the Education Reform Initiative, the governor said the committee is expected to review the education status of the state, the standard of education in the state public secondary schools, generate, collate and analyse memoranda on the participatory management of the state’s public secondary schools.

The committee which comprises 31 members is chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Prof. Sulaiman Gbadegesin.

He said the committee is expected to conclude its exercise within or not later than four weeks starting from today.
