The International Right of Way Association (IRWA) Nigeria, Chapter 84, has elected Mrs Feechi Grant-Ken Akobundu as its new president.
Akobundu assumed duty last week at IRWA`s 4 th educational seminar and annual general meeting in Abuja. IRWA is an umbrella body for professionals such as estate surveyors, land surveyors, engineers, and others involved in right of way acquisition and management.
She said her priority was to advocate for synergy between all the ministries that were involved in the acquisition and management of right of way because no meaningful development could take place without proper right of way management.
Akobundu, who works with the Transmission Company of Nigeria TCN, cited the example of Nigerian where people live under high-tension cables and said in such cases aviation and power ministries should partner on how to tackle such problem.
The Nigerian chapter of IRWA, inaugurated in 2013, is the first chapter in West Africa and the second in Africa, after South Africa.
