The Senator representing Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District and Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio, has promised to build students’ hostels for Federal Polytechnic Ukana. 

Akpabio who said this when the management of the polytechnic visited him at his Ukana country home said the project was part of his contribution to the institution.

 The Senator said the hostel blocks wouldl be his personal donation in addition to an entrepreneurial center which was a constituency project.  

He said the 10 local government areas making up the district would benefit from a number of projects. 

In his remarks, the Rector, Professor Balama Obomanu, said the senators’ investment in the education sector would go a long way in advancing the state. 

The Rector explained that despite some challenges, the polytechnic had secured accreditation for two programmes so far and called for more support from stakeholders to ensure the accreditation of more programmes in the coming year.
