The youths carried placards of inscriptions such as “we are tired of government’s insensitivity to our plights”, caused unnecessary hold up in the area.

The youths who had staged a protest to the Power Holding Company at NEPA area of Akure metropolis, lamented that the people of the area had been experiencing irregular power supply in the last few months.

The spokesman of the youth, Adebayo Johnson noted that despite the complaints made by the people of the area, PHCN refused to restore electricity to the area.

Mr Johnson also complained bitterly about the acute shortage of water currently being experienced by the residents of the area

His words, “We are tired of the kind of life we are living. In our area, electricity and water are the major problem we are facing. Most of our wells have dried up and we have to move to long distance before we can get water.

“Often, we pay a lot of money before we can get water to drink. Most of the people who rely on electricity for their day to day job are the worst hit as they can no longer do their jobs. The money being spent to fuel generator is on the high side.”

He appealed to the state governor, Olusegun Mimiko to urgently come to their aid by sinking boreholes in the area.
