Residents of Akuruba community in Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State have appealed to the federal government to come to their aid and rehabilitate Nasarawa-Shendam which connects Plateau, Taraba and Bauchi states to check criminality and accidents on the road.
Investigation by Aso Chronicle revealed that some parts of the road have become death traps as armed robbers take advantage of the dilapidated nature of the road to ambush travellers and motorists on a daily basis.
Our correspondent who went round observed that the road was constructed by the federal government in 1976.
It was further gathered that since the construction, no serious rehabilitation and maintenance have been carried out on the road.
Further observation by our correspondent indicated that previously the journey between Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, and Shendam in Plateau State, took one hour, but now it takes more several hours.
