The Akwa Ibom Community in Abuja hosted Governor Umo Eno, on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at the Akwa Ibom House, Central Business District, Abuja.

The event held during the community’s monthly general meeting.

The occasion also featured his decoration as the Grand Patron of the Akwa Ibom Community, Abuja.

The motion for the endorsement was moved by the Coordinator of the ARISE Renewed Hope Initiative in Abuja, Comrade Tommy Etim Okon, and was unanimously adopted by the immediate past President of the community, Barrister Aniefiok Ibah.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Eno briefed members on key achievements of his administration since assuming office, highlighting extensive road construction across the state, the ongoing development of the ARISE Palm Resort, erosion control at Brooks Street, and the establishment of a 350-bed international hospital with a specialised oncology department.

He also spoke on the implementation of the ARISE Health Insurance Scheme and a fully operational 24-hour emergency ambulance service, citing a recent incident in which the service saved the life of a corps member who was bitten by a snake.

Governor Eno disclosed that the 2026 budget proposal provides for at least one major project in each of the state’s 31 local government areas, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to inclusive and equitable development. He thanked the community for its support and expressed his determination to elevate the state beyond the level at which his administration met it.

In a major announcement, the governor revealed plans to renovate the Akwa Ibom House in Abuja and upgrade it into a five-star facility. He added that the state government was processing land approvals with the Federal Capital Territory Administration for the development of an Akwa Ibom State Estate, which will be allocated to indigenes at subsidised rates.

He urged community members to actively participate in the ongoing APC e-registration and INEC voter card revalidation exercises, directing the Special Adviser on Mobilisation to work closely with the community to ensure wider participation. He also emphasised that the ARISE Renewed Hope Initiative remains the sole platform for political mobilisation ahead of the next election cycle.

As part of his support to the community, Governor Eno announced the provision of an 18-seater bus to be delivered within two months through the Office of the Secretary to the State Government. He further pledged to involve Akwa Ibom sons and daughters resident in Abuja in the development of the proposed Ibom Estate.

Earlier, the President of the Akwa Ibom Community (AKCOM), Abuja, Barrister Gabriel Mkpisong Fan, described the visit as historic and unprecedented, noting that it was the first time a sitting governor of Akwa Ibom State attended the community’s general meeting.

He expressed satisfaction with ongoing infrastructural development in the state and commended the prevailing peace and stability under Governor Eno’s leadership.

Barrister Fan appealed for continued government support to the community, including the replacement of a bus donated in 2011 by Senator Godswill Akpabio, now in poor condition, and the inclusion of more Abuja-based indigenes in government appointments.

He also appreciated the governor for appointing Dr Tommy Etim Okon as Coordinator of the ARISE Initiative in Abuja.

Speaking on behalf of women, the community’s Women Leader, Mrs Maria Orok, highlighted the challenges facing over 100 vulnerable widows within the community and appealed for empowerment programmes, youth employment opportunities and educational support.

The event ended with a unanimous endorsement of Governor Umo Eno for a second term, as community leaders reaffirmed confidence in his leadership, vision and developmental strides.

They also endorsed Senate President Godswill Akpabio and President Bola Tinubu for reelection.
