Leadership of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) on Wednesday threatened to invade Akwa-ibom State Assembly to protest against any attempt to unconstitutionally impeach the speaker of the house.
The Students said any attempt to truncate democracy in the state will be resisted because democratic
system have come to stay in Nigeria.
Addressing a news briefing in Kaduna , Senate President of the students body, Comrade Abdulmajeed Oladimeji Oyeniyi said, NANS was fully aware of plans of minority opposition members in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly to impeach the state Governor, Emmanuel Udom ahead of the 2019 elections
“The leadership of Nigerian students wish to remind the public that the Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assemble was once a senator of NANS and the Speaker to Nigerian Youth Parliament and any attempt to stampede his activities as the Speaker of Akwa lbom State House of Assembly, we will not hesitate to invade the state capital.”
The students however called on the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency resolved the ongoing strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in the interest if Nigerian students and image of the country
