Inyang was not a governorship candidate, unlike the Singapore-based ship builder, Engineer Udonwa who was shot to near-death. Akwa Ibom Police Commissioner Rugbere said (in the media) that Udonwa was being treated at an undisclosed hospital in Uyo; up till date could not say who did it. His mother is still held by abductors.

At time of assassination Elder Paul held neither appointed nor elected position and was not gunning for any, therefore accusing the opposition is not tenable; he could be a sacrificial lamb designed at giving opposition bad name?  Investigation should include looking inwards to ascertain if there was any assignment he did not executive precisely.  

Elder Paul Inyang at the point of assassination was not a member of the present PDP executive. Why then was it that the Akwa Ibom SSG put up a full-page advertisement in many local and national newspapers followed by the entire EXCO members (of Akwa Ibom PDP and State Government) making show out of this unpalatable incident through group visit to the late Inyang’s family?

Elder Paul Inyang has no personal relationship with IGP Onovo therefore why the IGP found it expedient making an urgent journey from Abuja to Inyang’s family in Akwa Ibom? How many of such assassinations can he say he made urgent condolence visits to? It is reported that IGP ordered the arrest and detention of Akpabio’s challenger, Senator James Udoedehe, in connection with this? Tuesday June 29, 2010, Uyo looked like a war zone as Police opened fire on peaceful demonstrators that filed out against unjustified detention of James; his Campaign office was sealed off just as they did to State House of Assembly recently, all in attempt to please Governor Akpabio. IGP Onovo is an uncle to Governor Akpabio’s wife.  Could it be that the Police are playing a predetermined script?
