Al-Habibiyyah Zakat Foundation has disbursed N7 million Zakat to the indigents to cushion the effect of the current economic realities on them.

The foundation, at its 10th Public Zakat disbursement yesterday in Abuja, distributed some relief items, including grinding machines, sewing and industrial machines, refrigerators, among others. 

48 people were also given cheques for business startups, upgrade and expansion, said Imam Fuad Adeyemi, the National Chief Imam of Al-Habibiyyah. 

He said 13 students from various higher institutions were given cheques for tuition fees, while six prospective ones would be given scholarship upon presentation of their admission letters. 

He said the foundation has disbursed over N40 million Zakat to different set of beneficiaries since inception in March 2008.

Imam Fuad said the foundation extended the Zakat distribution to both Muslims and Christians to promote peace and tolerance in the country.

He assured that non-Muslims would continue to benefit from the foundation’s empowerment programme. 

For the foundation’s subsequent Zakat disbursement, the cleric said a business clinic would be organized for the beneficiaries to tutor them on entrepreneurship.

This, he said would set their foot firmly on the method of running a successful business. 

One of the beneficiaries, Hadiza Sunuola, expressed appreciation to the foundation for the kind gesture and prayed for abundant rewards to their benefactors.
