Al-Hikmah to promote Arabic education

The Vice Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Professor Taofeek Ibrahim, has said the institution will collaborate with other universities to strengthen Islamic and Arabic studies.

Ibrahim said this while speaking at the closing of a four-day refresher workshop for judges, lecturers and teachers of Arabic and Islamic studies held at the university organised in collaboration with Ummul Qura University, Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

He said, “The objectives of the refresher course include explaining the peculiarities and relevance of Shari’ah to the modern world; to strengthen the intellectual capacity of the participants to defending Islam; and to equip them on how to refute misconceptions surrounding the teaching of Islam.

“It is worthy of note that the aforementioned objectives, coupled with the caliber of participants the workshop has targeted, leave us with no alternative than to accept the offer of collaborating to organise the workshop,” he said.
