House Majority Leader, Godiya Akwashiki (PDP, Nasarawa-Eggon-West), who read the “House Resolution on Security Issues and other Sensitive Matters in the State”, as well as a “Deliberation on the House Resolution on Security”, also read out the impeachment warning.

 

The motion for the one-week warning was seconded for deliberation, by House Minority Leader, Adamu Maikatako (CPC, Lafia-Central).

Akwashiki, who stood for over 12 minutes, immediately after the Speaker, Musa Ahmed Mohammed (PDP, Nasarawa-Central) declared the also read the resolutions of the last sitting which asked CPC Governor Al-Makura to expedite actions at stemming the lingering crises which have engulfed much of the southern zone of the state in months now, without an end to them.

The Majority Leader observed, however, that the governor failed to comply with the resolution, to act on the raging gun violence, which has sacked many communities, and displaced thousands, but watched while the people are being killed daily.

He observed that a situation of complete breakdown of law and order, leading to arson in which over 10 persons have been reportedly killed in Agyaragu, an outskirt of Lafia, on Wednesday, was not only disturbing, but smacked of Governor Al-Makura’s government’s incompetence to comply with constitutional provisions to protect lives and property in the state.

Akwashiki said the House resolved that Al-Makura be given seven days from today, to end the violence in the zone, or members will invoke Section 188 (1), to impeach him.

Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Abdullahi Mohammed told Weekly Trust on phone that he had no comments to make because he has not seen the impeachment warning.
