Al-Makura, who reacted to Tuesday’s attack on the Nasarawa State House of Assembly (NSHA) complex by unidentified hoodlums, after he appeared at the House, expressed displeasure with the development when he spoke on phone with Daily Trust.
“The incident was without any provocation. It was unwarranted, and should not have happened. We as a responsible government, are zero tolerant to such acts that are capable of shutting out dissent or any opposition voice. We are running a democratic government where dissent to our actions, policies and programmes are not treated as crime; we welcome them because such voices add to ginger us to do more”, he said.
The governor, who insisted that the government knows nothing about the attack on the assembly complex, said there is an ongoing investigation to get to the perpetrators, as well as unmask their sponsors and their motive, just as he urged security agencies to reach all heights at tracing, and arresting the perpetrators for punishment.
 Al-Makura said his administration has counted benefits as a government under the watch of an opposition-dominated legislature, saying “to us, the legislature and the opposition are a necessary ingredient to good governance.”
 According to him, “there has never been a tea bag that ever brought good colour and aroma without being let in hot water. I am that tea bag. The assembly is like hot water, where I must enter first, before my good colour and aroma can come out. I am like gold; the beauty of my administration cannot be achieved without the administration passing through fire.”
