Nasarawa State governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has won in his Kofar Wambai polling unit of Gayam Ward of Lafia with almost 99 percent, with his closest rival at the unit, Yusuf Agabi of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) polling less than one percent.
Al-Makura is running for re-election with Agabi, and Labaran Maku of the All Progressives Grand Alliance as his main challengers. Maku did not poll a single vote at the incumbent contestant’s polling unit.
Al-Makura polled 692 of the total votes cast which were 715, while Agabi got six only, to trail second. Other candidates got fewer votes as Agabi. A total of 720 were accredited.
The Lafia-Central APC candidate for the state house of assembly also won the unit.
Governor Al-Makura’s Special Assistant on Special Duties, Tancy Sarki told our correspondent on phone that the votes cast at that polling unit represents the simple statement made by the people, to appreciate his boss over his performance record in his first term.
