Al-Qalam University Katsina now has an additional 160 capacity female students hostel built at the cost of N49 million.
The institute’s Head of Public Affairs, Akilu Atiku, in a statement said another hostel with capacity for 128 students has also been constructed and donated to the institute by a philanthropist, Alhaji Bilya Sanda.
“With this development, the university has decided to let go the rented female hostel with a capacity of 90 students at Dandagoro and to move another 145 staying at rented buildings in Batagarawa to the university campus,” he said.
In a related development, the university has bagged the most outstanding private university of the year award for its excellent academic records, uninterrupted academic calendar and having a conducive learning environment.
Receiving the award from the General Congress of the Unified Nigerian Youth Forum, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Shehu Ado, assured of the institute’s readiness to sustain the tempo.
