The  Vice Chancellor of Al-Qalam University, Katsina, Prof. Shehu Garki Ado,  has been bestowed with the  ‘ICON of Nation Building and Educational Development in Nigeria’ award by the West African Students Union Parliamen (WASUP).
Speaking on behalf of the 16  member countries of West Africa, the Speaker, Saint Solomon said, they were at Katsina to honour the vice chancellor for his outstanding performance as a public servant.
A statement by Mustapha Abdullahi Radda, the Public Relations Officer of Alqalam University said WASUP chose the professor for the award because of his achievements as the vice chancellor of Al-Qalam University Katsina, and  the roles he played as national co-coordinator for Maize Research, and as the executive director Institute for Agricultural Research, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
