The president of the International Publishers Association, Sheikha Bodour Al-Qasimi is among speakers at the 20th annual Nigeria International Book Fair (NIBF) which will be held from July 27 to 29.

The chairman of Nigerian Book Fair Trust, Mr Gbadega Adedapo, who disclosed this in Lagos on Thursday, said the fair was aimed at promoting and improving the reading culture among Nigerians and Africans by bringing together all players in the book industry.

NIBF is the second-largest international Book Fair in Africa.

The fair, with the theme ‘Awakening the giant in women for the growth of the book ecosystem’ will be a hybrid experience (physical and virtual participation), according to the organisers.

“The programmes for the book fair have been carefully put together to harmonise the interest of women, discuss the strategies to empower women in the book value-chain for the benefits of all and sundry,” he said.

Adedapo said participants should expect benefits from the Book Fair, such as; Mathematics and spelling Bee competitions for schools and students of different levels, link up with the foreign book industry players and counterparts in Nigeria among others.

He added that other invited dignitaries are the Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, the executive governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-olu, his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-olu and the First Lady of Ekiti State, Erelu Bisi Fayemi.
