ALGON empowers less privileged in Nasarawa

The Association of All Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Nasarawa State has empowerment less privileged people in the state.

Governor Abdullahi Sule, at the event, said the state government would continue to empower people towards being self-reliant through skills as part of measures to tackle poverty and hunger.

The governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Yusuf Turaki, said, “The fight against crime and criminality can be achieved if collective effort is made to engage the youths in worthwhile ventures.”

The state’s Chairman of ALGON and Chairman of Lafia Local Government Area, Alhaji Mu’azu Maifata, said the empowerment equipment were procured in collaboration with an NGO, Oma Life Rescue Foundation (OLRF).

Alhaji Maifata said, “The target beneficiaries of the facilities are people with disabilities, women, the aged and youths who do not have any means of livelihood.”

Items including sewing, knitting, vulcanising and grinding machines, generators and motorcycles were distributed.
