The Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in the FCT, Danladi Chiya, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for heeding the call of the indigenous people of the territory and nominating one of them, Zaphaniya Jisalo, as minister.

City & Crime reports that Tinubu, on Wednesday, through his Chief of Staff (CoS), Femi Gbajabiamila, submitted the list of the second batch of ministerial nominees to the Senate, in which Jisalo, a former AMAC chairman, was among.

Chiya, who is also the Chairman of Kwali Area Council, made the commendation at the inauguration of his additional 70 special assistants.

Chiya said, “I want to, on behalf of my colleagues across the six area councils, thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for appointing one of the FCT natives as cabinet minister.”

 The chairman, while giving reasons for his administration to appoint additional 70 special assistants, said it was a deliberate move to engage them in some responsibility to reduce unemployment in the council.

He said the aides were given portfolios in the areas of their specialisation which included health, environment, sanitation, forestry, revenue and cultural affairs.

Speaking on behalf of the appointees, the Special Assistant on Cultural Affairs, Mr Thomas Leda, appreciated the chairman for finding them worthy for the appointment, assuring him that they would work as a team to deliver.
