The decision was in compliance with the directive of the state government for all public and private schools to reopen on October 15.
Teachers in the state had defied the September 22 resumption order on the excuse that appropriate measures to prevent Ebola were not put in place by government.
However, the state government on Monday distributed Ebola preventive kits to all schools preparatory to today’s resumption.
Items distributed by the Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Saka Onimago, included infrared thermometer, hand sanitisers, hand-washing liquid soap and buckets with tap for running water. Government had earlier trained principals and head teachers across the 16 local governments on how to prevent Ebola.
Speaking with Daily Trust, the NUT boss disclosed that the government had complied 100 per cent with what they required to reopen schools.
Also speaking with our correspondent, Chairman of National Association of Private Schools (NAPS), Kwara chapter, Alhaji Adetunji Abdulrahman, assured that all private schools would also resume.
