Several hours later the message on Keshi’s Twitter page Stephen Keshi (@OfficialKeshi) read as follows: “Friends, it has been a good run and I have enjoyed every moment. It’s been an honor coaching the Super Eagles. It is however time to bow out”.
Some information then went out stating that the coach, who led Nigeria to the victory at 2013 AFCON, would be in charge of the South African team (Bafana Bafana), but there was no official confirmation of this issue. Nigerians have however continued to react to the speculations as to whether Keshi would remain as coach of the Super Eagles or not. This is what some of them had to say :
Quadri Ishola  If Keshi was satisfied with his achievement so far, he could have at least won the match for Nigerians. We have never had an easy 2nd round match like the match against France. It was as if the coach and the players were tired of staying further in Brazil, what an abrupt way of QUITTING.
Choice Udoh  The French national team used a crooked method to defeat the Super Eagles of Nigeria using 70 minutes to study key players of the Eagles thereby aborting their quarter-final dreams. The players noticed were Onazi and Ambrose. They succeeded in bringing Onazi down. Thank God Stephen Keshi is a Nigerian because he is proud because of his experience as a coach!
Blessing Arung  Everyone should remember it’s just a game. You win some & lose some, he was once our best and don’t forget also that every team goes with the same zeal & will to win. No be only Keshi waka go Brazil.
Atodo Simon  Some players must have failed to play to specification. How can professionals leave their goal post unattended to after the goalkeeper dashed out to clear ball from the head of an opponent? They can’t say they don’t know that it is a football custom that when a corner kick is being taken, two players need to be by the two poles to nod the ball out in case just like it happened yesterday. Everything is politics in Nigeria.  Keshi was not even given a free hand.
