Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has issued an executive order renaming the Benue Printing and Publishing Corporation as Dan Agbese Printing and Publishing Corporation, in honour of late veteran journalist, Chief Dan Agbese.

This was disclosed in a statement yesterday by the Technical Adviser to the Governor on Media, Publicity and Strategic Communication, Solomon Iorpev.

According to the statement, the renaming followed the governor’s earlier announcement during the live broadcast marking Benue State’s Golden Jubilee anniversary and is aimed at immortalising the late journalist for his outstanding contributions to journalism and public service.

The governor said the move would institutionalise excellence in public communication, preserve Agbese’s legacy, and inspire future generations to uphold truth, courage and professionalism.

The statement noted that the renaming takes immediate effect and applies to all official documents, communications, legal instruments, signage, branding materials and public references, with all Ministries, Departments and Agencies directed to ensure full compliance.

Governor Alia, the statement added, believes the honour will strengthen responsible journalism, ethical publishing and intellectual development in the state, urging media practitioners, students, writers and public servants to emulate the values exemplified by the late Dan Agbese.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to recognising merit, preserving Benue’s heritage and building institutions that reflect the dignity, history and aspirations of the people.
