The Shaaba title, Daily Trust gathered, is exclusively reserved for princes and will now be conferred on Engineer Faruk Muhammad, having distinguished himself as the most capable person to occupy the exalted position.
An Engineer par excellence, Muhammad will by his installation today be the 6th Shaaba from the Imiwo ruling clan of Budon, to have been bestowed with the prestigious title.
The significance of the title cannot be overemphasized having been conferred on relations of the newly appointed Shaaba, who performed well during their reign.
Daily Trust gathered that virtually all the former holders of the Shaaba title are blood relations of the new Shaaba, as the title is exclusively for princes.
A source at the palace, who craved anonymity because he is not authorised to speak to journalists on the ceremony, confided in Daily Trust that some of the past holders of the exalted title included Shaaba Mamman Tsado of Imiwo ruling clan appointed by Agankyu Sidi Ali of Yebba Clan, who was the great grandfather of the newly appointed Shaaba.
Next in the line of past holders of the title were; Shaaba Mahmudu of Imiwo ruling clan, appointed by Agankyu Nmadu of Danki clan, Shaaba Nmadu of Imiwo ruling clan, appointed by Agankyu Muhammad Saba 1 of Danki Clan, who is also grandfather to the new Shaaba.
After Shaaba Nmadu, it was Shaaba Gborigi of Imiwo ruling clan, who is an uncle to Shaaba Faruk, who held the position. Gborigi was appointed by Agankyu Muhammad Saba1 of Danki Clan. After him came Shaaba Gana of Imiwo ruling clan, who was appointed by Agankyu Muhammad Saba 1 of Danki. Gana is an uncle to Shaaba Faruk.
To further link his ancestral origin, Daily Trust gathered, the new Shaaba has several lineages to the past Agankyu title holders of Kakanda Kingdom in the Budon Traditional Council.
For instance, two out of the seven Agankyus who have ruled the Kingdom were great-great grandfathers of the newly appointed Shaaba. They are Agankyu Sidi and Agankyu Jimada, while the three others that followed them, namely Agankyu Bajini, Agankyu Gbabu and Agankyu Idirisu were great grandfathers of Engineer Muhammad Faruk.
However, Agankyu Bawan-Allah the 1st and Agankyu Bawan-Allah the 2nd were grandfather and uncle to the incoming Shaaba respectively.
Going by his background, it is no surprise that the new Shaaba was considered for the title; being a complete son of the soil, a crown prince among other qualities.
